This portfolio was shot during the summer of 2004 in Northern Spain. I used a Seagull twin lens reflex camera and Kodak 160VC film.
Walking and photographing my way across Spain there was an ever changing landscape rolling out before me. The meditative nature of waking at dawn and walking down a dirt path caused me to concentrate on my inner thoughts and the vast landscape that surrounded me. I encountered hilly woodlands, flat and barren plains, and mountainous regions, each with their own physical and psychological challenges. As I followed the ancient path I attempted to portray the modern day experience of El Camino de Santiago. The magnificent old buildings, contemporary camino sculptures, and various waymarkers that dot the landscape tell the story of those who had been there before me. This ancient road is full of the old and the new, the unchanged and the ever changing.
